There are a awesome films on campus throughout the year
Something very exciting happened at NC State this Saturday; at 8:30pm the doors opened for the public to come and see the dozens of films submitted by NC State students through Campus Movie Fest. Here is the challenge, create a 5-minute movie in one week. The week of filming began on February 13, 2013 and came to a close on February 19.
Adobe and Campus Movie Fest have partnered together to provide NC State students with laptops loaded with Adobe software to write, produce, and edit a film to enter into a competition on campus. Students have been frantically filming and editing their films last week, and this Tuesday films were collected as we gear up for Campus Movie Fest 2013! The competition has become very popular on campus and I was really looking forward to the festival on Saturday. These movies were shown at Witherspoon Student Center on Saturday February 23rd at 9pm.
Witherspoon Student Center is home to Campus Cinemas
Movies on campus are not unique to this particular event. Campus Cinema also shows movies throughout the year. Tickets are only $2 for students and $3 for non-students. I know what you’re thinking; they probably never have good movies, right? Wrong. NC State’s Campus Cinema brings in a variety of films from major blockbusters to local, independent films. For many broke college students the campus movie theatre is a great alternative to the overpriced mega-theatres. Witherspoon Student Center is not only home to our own theatre, but it also comes with its very own concession stand where students can get their share of junk food.
Fun events and competitions like this one are not uncommon at NC State. Being such a large, exciting campus different organizations are constantly around campus promoting new and awesome opportunities for students to be a part of. When you get to campus I encourage you to check out these different groups, these experiences are what being a student is all about!
